Transparency and commitment: this is how we work to reduce our carbon footprint at Arpe
At Arpe, we have always understood sustainability as a path of continuous improvement. It is not enough to claim that we produce responsibly: we must prove it with data, audits, and full transparency. That’s why, in 2024, we have calculated (again) our Organizational Carbon Footprint following the international standard ISO 14064:2019, a globally recognized methodology for measuring a company’s emissions.
This report allows us to understand where our emissions come from, how we can reduce them, and what opportunities we have to continue moving toward a production model that is increasingly respectful of the planet.
Today we are sharing the most relevant results and what they mean for us and for our customers.
Everything starts at home: local and controlled production
Arpe is a family-owned company that designs and manufactures all its products in Arenys de Munt (Catalonia, Spain). Unlike much of the industry, our production is 100% local, allowing us to control every stage of the process:
- Selection of raw materials
- Weaving
- Digital printing
- Sewing
- Quality control
- Preparation and logistics
This model not only generates local employment but also significantly reduces transport and associated emissions. Proximity is not a slogan: it is an environmental and business decision.
99% of our footprint comes from indirect emissions: a figure that says a lot about how we work
According to 2024 data, our total carbon footprint is 837.49 t CO₂ eq.
Of this total:
- Scope 1 (direct): ~1%
- Scope 2 (electricity): 0%
- Scope 3 (indirect): 99%
This means that our internal emissions are minimal: the factory, the energy we use, and day-to-day operations are extremely efficient.
The main weight comes from external factors such as:
- Raw materials
- Associated transport
- Product use and end of life
Most of the impact does not lie within Arpe, but within the value chain. And that is exactly where we focus our improvement efforts.
Raw materials: our biggest challenge… and our greatest opportunity
Although at Arpe we carry out a large part of the processes internally, 87% of our carbon footprint comes from the impact associated with the origin of raw materials. In the textile sector, the production of yarn and certain materials is a highly energy-intensive process, which means that the emissions linked to these materials, whether we produce them or purchase them, carry significant weight in the overall calculation.
This is why, for more than a decade, we have been committed to:
Post-consumer rPET as our main yarn
Suppliers with recognized certifications
Continuous innovation in lighter, recycled and recyclable fabrics
Every gram of material counts, and every improvement in this area significantly reduces the overall impact.
Durable products that help reduce emissions
The indirect emissions of products sold focus on the use and end of life of the product. Here we find impacts related to:
- The water and energy consumption required to wash it
- Its recycling or disposal
At Arpe, we manufacture products designed to last for years, not weeks.
An Arpe reusable towel can replace hundreds of single-use products.
This durability is key: when a product lasts longer, its footprint per use drops dramatically.
Data that brings clarity to companies
One of Arpe’s main objectives is to offer customizable and sustainable products with verifiable data.
The 2024 indicators make this possible:
- ~9.5 kg CO₂ eq / kg of product manufactured
- ~0.5 kg CO₂ eq / € invoiced
These indicators give any company a strong argument:
"We are choosing a supplier that measures, monitors, and reduces its environmental footprint."
Because gifting responsibly is also a brand decision.
Our commitment: to improve every year
Measuring is only the first step. Based on the 2024 data, Arpe has already identified several improvement areas:
- Improving the level of detail of fuel consumption data
- Including emission categories currently excluded
- Separating and analysing in greater detail the waste generated during production
Sustainability is a journey with no end, and we walk it with consistency and transparency.
Why is this important for our clients?
Because more and more companies are looking for suppliers:
- With audited data
- With real commitment
- With a coherent sustainable strategy
- With high-quality products that last over time
Arpe not only offers customizable, locally manufactured products: it also provides environmental guarantees based on data, not on speeches.
If your brand wants to give with purpose, our solutions allow you to communicate sustainability with full transparency.
The carbon footprint is, for us, an essential tool to keep innovating, reduce the impact of our products, and move toward a more responsible production model.
At Arpe, we do this with rigour, proximity, and verified data.
And this commitment is part of every towel, every cleaning cloth, and every product that leaves our home.
Measure to improve. Improve to transform.
