Global Recycling Day: recycling starts long before you throw a product away
Every 18 March marks Global Recycling Day, a day that invites us to
reflect on the role of recycling in protecting the planet and building more responsible models.
But recycling doesn't start when a product reaches the end of its useful life. It starts much earlier: in the design, in the choice of materials and in how each product is manufactured.
At Arpe we've been working precisely on that starting point for over a decade.
What is Global Recycling Day and why does it matter?
Global Recycling Day puts the spotlight on recycling as one of the key tools for:
· Reducing the consumption of natural resources
· Cutting CO₂ emissions
· Preventing waste from ending up in landfills or the natural environment
Beyond the act of recycling itself, this day reminds us that materials have value
and should be kept in the system for as long as possible.

Recycling starts with the material
For more than ten years, at Arpe we've been incorporating recycled materials into our textile products, favouring recycled monofilaments and structures designed to reduce environmental impact from the outset.
This decision has a direct impact on:
· The reduction of annual CO₂ emissions
· The use of waste as
new raw material
· The reduced dependence on
virgin resources
Working with recycled material isn't just a technical choice, but a way of understanding how we want to produce. -
Designing products that can be recycled again
One of the big challenges of recycling is what happens after the product's useful life. That's why, in addition to using recycled material, at Arpe we work to ensure our products are designed to be recycled again once they're no longer in use.
Using mono-materials or easily separable structures makes recycling processes easier and helps close the loop, moving towards a more circular economy. -
Recycling and promotional products: a decision with impact
In the world of promotional products, material decisions have a direct impact, since these items are usually produced in large quantities.
Choosing products made with
recycled material and designed to be recyclable:
· Reduces the environmental impact of campaigns
· Strengthens brand consistency
· Conveys a clear message of responsibility
Recycling also communicates values.
Global Recycling Day: an opportunity to look at the whole cycle
Global Recycling Day is a good occasion to remember that recycling isn't just about sorting waste, but about rethinking the product's entire life cycle: from the material through to its use and its end of life.
At Arpe we continue to work on designing products that fit this approach, favouring recycled materials, more efficient processes and solutions designed to last and return to the system.
