Texy: the textile mascot transforming waste into new opportunities

A mascot with a circular soul
When TEXTILS.CAT, the Catalan cluster of technical textile companies, proposed creating a mascot to represent them at the Techtextil trade fair, we knew we didn’t want to design just a friendly character. We wanted to bring to life a symbol capable of representing the future of the textile sector: innovative, sustainable, and committed to people.
This is how Texy was born, a mascot made from textile waste that gives materials a second life while highlighting the value of the circular economy within the Catalan textile industry.
Texy: sustainability, innovation, and social commitment
Texy represents much more than a corporate mascot. It reflects a way of understanding textiles: making the most of existing resources, reducing waste, and generating a positive impact.
That is why, from the very beginning, the project was approached from a social and sustainable perspective. The final production of Texy was carried out in collaboration with Casa AVIDI, a project managed by Sant Joan de Déu that supports older women experiencing homelessness.
The participants played an active role in the mascot’s production process, bringing value, experience, and sensitivity to every piece.
A textile project with real impact
The collaboration with Casa AVIDI was never meant to remain a one-time action. Together with TEXTILS.CAT, we promoted an initiative to create a real and lasting impact: the donation of a new overlock machine for the project’s sewing workshop.
This machine will allow participating women to train in textile sewing, acquire new skills, and open up new professional and personal opportunities.
We believe textile innovation also means building a more human, inclusive, and conscious industry.

Textile waste transformed into opportunities
In a context where sustainability is one of the sector’s greatest challenges, projects like Texy demonstrate that textile waste can become new creative and social opportunities.
Reusing materials not only reduces environmental impact, but also helps promote a new way of producing: more responsible, local, and aligned with the values of the circular economy.
Techtextil: the meeting point for technical textiles
The presentation of Texy at Techtextil also symbolizes the Catalan textile sector’s ability to innovate beyond the product itself. The trade fair, an international benchmark in technical textiles and innovation, is the ideal setting to showcase projects that combine creativity, sustainability, and social impact.
For us, being part of this initiative has been a way of demonstrating that textiles can be a driver of change.
The future of textiles is also made with values
Texy may be small in size, but it carries enormous meaning. It represents the collaboration between companies, social organizations, and people who believe in a more responsible textile industry.
At Arpe, we continue to support projects that connect design, sustainability, and positive impact. Because we believe innovation is not only about creating new products, but also about generating new opportunities for people and for the planet.
